It is essential that all players are diligent in their repair of pitch marks on greens. A pitch mark that is repaired correctly and as soon as it happens will recover in 24 hours. A badly repaired or unrepaired one will take several weeks to heal. Unrepaired pitch marks also foster disease and infections in the green and can also create an ideal bed for weed seed.

Some members may believe and, or are using Model Local Rule (MLR) 8E-5 as an alternative to Stroke and Distance when their ball has landed OB from the 9th tee. MLR 8E-5 allows you to take a drop in the nearest spot on the fairway within two club lengths on the edge of the fairway, no nearer to the hole where the ball crossed the OB line, with a two stroke penalty.

We’re having a chat with Georgie Weingarth, who in 1967-1972 was a Junior member of Southport and Burleigh Heads golf clubs then had a 42 year hiatus from golf until she joined 7 years ago.

The volunteers continue to be very active here at Maroochy River helping to keep the grounds and gardens as healthy as possible. Congratulations to all the mini-golfers who completed the 1st Round of the Maroochy River Mini Golf League, which was held last night. The Maroochy River Golf Club and Mini Golf would like to thank everyone for participating in our inaugural event of the Mini Golf League. Round 1 kicked off spectacularly with all 16 teams enjoying themselves. There were some fabulous shots played and some emerging superstars showing us all how it’s done.

Handiskins is returning to Maroochy River Golf Club starts Saturday, 24 April 2021. Get involved again in the Handiskins Event in 2021 at Maroochy River Golf Club. The ultimate game of skins for club golfers. Handiskins is a 5 X Qualifying round Stableford competition. Players best 3 rounds count towards their final score. The best 3 out of 5 rounds aggregated will determine the 4 qualifiers for the final. In the skins final they have the opportunity to play for up to $1,200* in club or pro shop vouchers.

Today the Maroochy River Golf Club hosted the Schweppes Australia Legends Pro-Am. It was a spectacular day with some terrific golf played. We enjoyed watching all the legends play, like Peter Senior and Terry Price to name a few. Congratulations to Richard Backwell who took home the chocolates with 4 under par 68.

Hundreds of golfers have participated in courses, classes and individual lessons via our own Golf Performance Centre here at MRGC. Ask most participants how they evaluated the process upon finishing, and the general feeling would be “I should have done it years ago!”
