Surviving Cygnet Saved by Twinnies
It was with great concern we called and a wildlife volunteer came to attend to our one surviving cygnet when it was obvious he was really struggling.
Wasteland & the 9th Hole
Work on the sandy waste is progressing. In time the sand will compact and become firm. I think it is an area that will aesthetically compliment the course once completed. Some of the undulations throughout the area will help catch some stray shots while hopefully giving you some better opportunities to recover.
Bunkers & Course Etiquette
Members are reminded that bunkers are in play. Members should leave them in a condition how they would expect to find them should their shot land in one.
Renovations for Holes 6, 7 & 8
0 Comments on Renovations for Holes 6, 7 & 8
As you would have noticed over the years since we moved to Bli Bli, the one area of the course that we continue to have issues with is the areas to the righthand side of the cart paths on holes 6, 7 & 8.
Wet Weather Policy for Carts
The course superintendent makes the decision regarding carts on course when he arrives at 5am daily and if necessary, it is reviewed again at 10am that same day.
Bunker Etiquette
As you are aware, rakes have been removed from the course. This came into being as a directive from Golf Australia since the Covid pandemic.
Repairing Pitch Marks & Divots
It is essential that all players are diligent in their repair of pitch marks on greens. A pitch mark that is repaired correctly and as soon as it happens will recover in 24 hours. A badly repaired or unrepaired one will take several weeks to heal. Unrepaired pitch marks also foster disease and infections in the green and can also create an ideal bed for weed seed.
Our Volunteers Chip In
The volunteers continue to be very active here at Maroochy River helping to keep the grounds and gardens as healthy as possible. Do you have the time and the desire to see your golf club maintained to the highest possible level? We are always on the lookout for new volunteers either to help Jill in the gardens or to join the mulching/pruning/pitch mark repair crew.
Course Renovations
As you will be aware the course renovations are scheduled for 7th – 9th February. The plan for this renovation is to be a little less disruptive by a solid tine on the fairways. The tees will be scarified, cored and rubbed as usual to help level out and promote the healthy growth in the newly mowed tee surrounds.
Spraying on the Golf Course
Most of time that you would ever see our spray unit on the course is for applications of fertilisers or soil conditioners to help maintain the health and appearance of the golf course and really poses no harm to players at all. A balanced nutrition program is the first step in reducing the need to apply any pesticides.
