Junior golfers have always been welcomed and valued at Maroochy River Golf Club. They are the future of our game, and we acknowledge their importance to our club. As a result we have worked hard in recent years to provide a golfing pathway for young players – from pre-schoolers all the way up to, and including, young adults.
We understand that not all junior players will become champions, even though we do our best to provide the opportunities for them to reach their potential. Our goal is to provide junior players with the skills, knowledge and understanding to have fun and enjoy the game of golf for a lifetime.
Most Saturdays, we host clinics for beginners, some as young as four. They not only learn the skills of the game, but golf etiquette, rules, making friends, social skills and having fun. Junior clinics are held during school holidays. READ MORE
Young players who show promise are invited to join a Development Squad, and attend practice each Tuesday between 4pm and 5pm. We host regular low-key competitions on Sundays that allow inexperienced players to test themselves against their peers in a non-threatening, stress-free environment.
Golfers aged 12 and under are invited to join our club as Cadet Members for $49 per year. Cadet Membership includes :
Cadets may progress to Junior membership, at which stage they can acquire a Golf Australia handicap and compete in competitions.
Junior Members can compete in club competitions, and also take part in junior pennant competition against other Sunshine Coast golf clubs, where they make friends, build confidence and enjoy the camaraderie of team competition. Maroochy River Golf Club fields mixed junior pennant teams, with boys and girls competing on equal terms (except that girls hit off from the red tees and boys from white).
For details about clinics and the junior development program, proudly sponsored by Fuji Xerox, inquire at the Pro Shop on (07) 5457 0900.
