Congratulations to Jason Norris who has taken out the 2023 Schweppes Maroochy River Legends Pro-Am. Jason added the Queensland Senior PGA Championship to his growing list of achievements on the PGA Legends Tour with a dominant victory at Maroochy River Golf Club on the Sunshine Coast.

After the slight stumble during June, a win at home against Indooroopilly at the end of June set the Maroochy River team up for a major swing in fortunes during July. The Maroochy River team finished 3rd out of the seven (7) teams in Group One; the club’s best result to date in what is proving to be a very competitive series.
Maroochy River’s Senior Teams Challenge squad has had a very good start to this year’s series with 4 wins from 5 starts to lead Group 1 approaching the half way point of the 14 match round robin series.
There’s an old saying about sport – “a quick game’s a good game”, and although professional golfers don’t seem to always buy into this, as Club golfers it’s probably something that most of us aspire to! The R&A recognised this a few years ago and established “Ready Golf” principles for adoption by Clubs.
Our Rose Bowl Day was well supported with 144 players participating, including 7 Brisbane & District clubs represented. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Debbie Constable, Sales Manager of Nutrimetics, plus a very successful raffle, the end result was a profit of over $2,000 to the Club.
The 2023 Qld Senior Teams Challenge series kicked off at Maroochy River on Thursday 20 April. The series is run by Golf Australia and is a mid-week team’s match play event of 8 players playing 4 singles scratch matches and 2 four ball handicap matches. Participants must be over 55 years of age. This year saw a very good number of members respond to Club Captain Andy Meldrum’s call for nominations. A total of 15 members have been selected to provide coverage across the three (3) month home and away series.
Minor Changes have been made to the Women’s Stroke Index, (Holes 2 & 4) have been swapped. This is part of the regular review to ensure the index reflects the actual playing difficulty as demonstrated by our players in the data produced by MiScore. Not a problem as the MiScore App and the Cards on registration in the Pro Shop, will have been adjusted accordingly.
The Maroochy River Golf Club has become an R & A Women in Golf Charter Signatory which means that our Club has made a commitment with Golf Australia to improve the sport for women and girls.
