Paul Malcolm Hole in One
Huge congratulations to member Paul Malcolm who shot his first ace on HOLE 8 during competition on Sunday 2nd April 2023. Playing from the Blue tee reading 186m on the range finder with a half club tail wind, Paul struck a solid 6 Iron straight in line with the pin which looked the goods and landed on the front edge of the green and after a couple if bounces it disappeared out of vision.
Qld Senior Teams Challenge
The 2023 Qld Senior Teams Challenge series kicked off at Maroochy River on Thursday 20 April. The series is run by Golf Australia and is a mid-week team’s match play event of 8 players playing 4 singles scratch matches and 2 four ball handicap matches. Participants must be over 55 years of age. This year saw a very good number of members respond to Club Captain Andy Meldrum’s call for nominations. A total of 15 members have been selected to provide coverage across the three (3) month home and away series.
Wildlife rescue crew from Australia Zoo
We phoned the wildlife rescue crew from Australia Zoo who came to attend to one of our big Kangaroo’s that appeared to have a broken leg. They sedated him and took him away to their rescue hospital. We followed up to see how he was and unfortunately, the fracture was in his hip and for a roo the size of him (85kg) they struggle to make a recovery and he was euthanised.
Garden Volunteers Needed
The mini golf is continuing to be a great success for the club. The lady garden volunteers (we would welcome any males who are green thumbs too) are very pleased to contribute to this success with the work and time given each Friday.
Push Carts on Greens
Members are permitted to cross greens with their pushcarts – this helps with pace of play and also helps to avoid creating worn areas along the sides of greens. Please don’t sit on your attached pushcart seat while it is on the green! Park your pushcart towards the fringe of the green, near to where you will exit the green to head to the next tee, and don’t forget to lock your cart to avoid it rolling away.
Farewell Chef Jon
After 6 years as Head Chef, Jon has called it quits. Jon has worked as a chef for 26 years from New Zealand then to Perth and finally the Sunshine Coast, but he has decided there has to be something better than being in a hot kitchen all day.
