RANKING: Australia’s Top-100 Public Access Courses for 2023

Golf Australia recently published its biannual list of Australia’s Top 100 Public Access Golf Courses. MRGC moved up 12 places – from 54th to 42nd on the list. As Members we should all take a lot of pride in this achievement – but in particular our dedicated Course Crew who work tirelessly to present the Course at that standard they do. When you see them out on the course this week, let them know you appreciate their efforts!

New golf courses often debut in the Top 100 lists, but it’s quite rare for them to debut and then continue to rise in the rankings. In fact more often than not they are ‘bumped out’ over time by the next series of newly-built courses.

If you’re interested in how our local Sunny Coast courses fared, Palmer Coolum made its way back into the Top 100 at no. 89, Noosa Springs held steady at no. 58, and Twin Waters nudged upwards from 56 to no. 50.

“The rise of Graham Marsh’s design continues, having debuted in the 2019 Top 100 Public Access Courses ranking at No.65, and now reaching its highest spot since opening for play in 2016. The layout has become very popular on the back of the risk-and-reward strategy for players of all standards, while its conditioning is rarely under par.” – Brendan James.

“Maroochy River has matured beautifully in the short number of years it has been open for play. The dynamic green complexes are second to none on the Sunshine Coast.” – Alistair Cameron.
