DRIVING RANGE
As you are aware there has been an incident and several complaints due to the driving range being so busy and a few stray balls coming to rest on the 9th hole.
Over the last couple of weeks we have been monitoring the number and location of driving range balls that end up on that hole. I have identified a large gap that is visible from the driving range tee that has no trees, this is also where a high percentage of golfers land their drives from the 9th tee which makes this a high risk area.
To give you some idea of what is happening now to help alleviate this problem and hopefully eliminate further accidents we have decided to join the 2 garden beds that are currently there and plant out with some established trees. While these trees have some time to grow and form the intended screen a temporary fence is being put up to block the gap initially.
WASTELAND
As part of the sandy wasteland that extends along the 7th fairway we have installed a pipe and drain in the wetland near the 7th green and 8th tee. This will not only keep the area dry but give us greater control of our water levels which will in turn aid the drainage of the entire course during extended wet periods. Once completed this section will no longer be considered a wetland hazard as it will be shaped up with sand and grass mounds become part of the great sandy waste we are starting to create. For the moment everything from the path to the conservation zone where the sand is along the 7th remains (Ground Under Repair).
SLASHING
We have begun to do some slashing of the outer paddocks of our property which will help us control the Groundsel weed infestations in these areas. The following photos are of the area to the left of the driving range.
