Patrick Killen, our 2nd Year Apprentice Greenkeeper has had the time of his life at the recent LIV tournament. “It was an incredible experience to help prepare the course for the first LIV tournament hosted in Australia. I met amazing people, gained invaluable knowledge, and witnessed golf like I had never seen before. I would also like to thank Stuart and MRGC for the opportunity.”

A question the Greens Committee is often asked by Members is why our Bunker Rakes do not have long teeth or ‘tines’ as some other courses do. The wind over the last week or so is a large part of the answer!

We phoned the wildlife rescue crew from Australia Zoo who came to attend to one of our big Kangaroo’s that appeared to have a broken leg. They sedated him and took him away to their rescue hospital. We followed up to see how he was and unfortunately, the fracture was in his hip and for a roo the size of him (85kg) they struggle to make a recovery and he was euthanised.

Do you sometimes find yourself in the 1st fairway wondering whether it is Preferred Lie or not? A feature of the Maroochy River Golf Club app that some Members may not be aware of is the “Course Conditions” section.

As much as the blue lines and cart direction works for improved surfaces around the greens, can we all be aware of the concentrated wear that is starting to appear at the blue lines. It is good to see the information sent out by Andy Meldrum being followed however, you still need to be mindful in spreading this wear.

Thanks to all who participated in our 2nd Annual Christmas Hambrose event! A field of 220 played 4 Person Ambrose for their chance to win Christmas hams for their team.

Let’s discuss one aspect of Member Standards – our two Call-Up Holes, and the behaviour and respect for other Members that is expected when playing these holes.

With our driving range being so busy with members, visitors and the general public it is important we all do some things to make everyone’s experience of our range more enjoyable which will in turn help organise the chaos.
