Having a chat with Nikki Seymour

Today, we are having a chat with Nikki Seymour.

Nikki is already very well known as the person who sits behind the Reception Desk as you enter the Clubhouse. Always ready with a welcoming smile, Nikki guides visitors to where they wish to be, answers incoming phone calls and directs them to all parts of the organisation. Amazingly, she still has time to assist members with their many, and varied needs as well as supporting management and requests from the Board.

Hi Nikki, how long have you been at Maroochy River Golf Club/any other clubs?

I am just coming up to my 3rd year anniversary at Maroochy River.  I have worked at a few other golf clubs such as Portsea in Victoria, Hope Island Resort on the Gold Coast and also Peregian Springs up here.

Do you play golf?

I try –  I own a set of clubs!

When?

Not often enough!

What is the thing you most like about working at MRGC?

I love how friendly everyone is and the view isn’t too bad either!

Have you a favourite/amusing story relating to your job at MRGC?

I remember my very first day and it happened to be my birthday and I looked up in the afternoon from my desk and the place was deserted – no staff to be seen and I thought, what sort of a place is this…then the next thing all the staff came around the corner with a little cake and a candle and sang happy birthday to me – my face went bright red but made me feel very special!

Where do you live now, and why?

My partner and I have just bought a house in Peregian Springs – I am never moving house again – seriously!!!

Best golf memory(s)?

I was lucky enough to be working at Hope Island when they hosted the Johnnie Walker Classic – everywhere you looked there was someone who’s face you knew from watching the golf on the TV!

Do you travel much, if so, when/where/how would you recommend family & friends should go?

My favourite destination is the Kimberley – I am very overdue for a fishing holiday up there!

What is the most useful/useless talent you have?

My Mum always said that I am very good at calming people down – I am not quite sure what she meant by that 😊

What is your favourite food/meal?

Hawaiian Pizza would have to be my favourite!  And my Nan’s Golden Syrup Dumplings with whipped cream – yum!

Any other sport you play or follow?

I love all sports – AFL, NRL, Cricket, Netball, Fishing – even like to watch the Darts!

And finally, any ambition yet to achieve?

Wouldn’t mind getting a hole in one some day!

Thanks for having a chat, Nikki.
