28 Oct Procedures we need to be aware of…
Considering the weather we have experienced lately, it is timely to remind members that the Club has procedures which are enacted when situations are deemed dangerous or life threatening, both on and off the course. Please take the time to read and understand these procedures, and the role you must play.
Procedure to suspend play due to inclement weather.
On hearing the siren sound and/or seeing a blue light showing from above the pro shop, players have the option of completing the hole they are currently playing or mark their ball and cease play. Players should seek shelter in close proximity to their marked ball if possible.
When the course returns to a playable condition, the siren will again be sounded and/or a green light will show from above the pro shop, indicating players may resume their game.
If conditions do not improve and play is cancelled, players will be informed as soon as possible, either by a single long blast of the siren and/or a red light showing from above the pro shop.
Procedure to suspend play due to a dangerous situation (i.e. lightning).
On hearing one long blast of the siren and/or a red light showing from above the pro shop, golfers are to mark their ball, discontinue play immediately and RETURN TO THE CLUBHOUSE.
Members who continue to play after the siren has been sounded and or the red light showing will be disqualified from the competition.
When it is safe to continue play, players will be informed as soon as possible, either by a single long blast of the siren and/or a green light showing from above the pro shop.
If players feel they are in danger from lightning they may mark their ball and discontinue play prior to the siren being sounded and/or any warning lights being activated.
Courtesy to players on greens & tee areas
A reminder to members that after you have teed off on compulsory call up holes 8 and 16, please show courtesy to the members putting on the green and wait approximately 50 metres from the green. I have also been advised that members are approaching the tee area and measuring whilst there are members teeing off. I urge members to refrain from doing this and demonstrate respect to fellow players. Please remember when approaching the tee box of the par 3 call up holes, be prepared to be called up. Just a reminder that par 3 holes 4 & 12 are discretionary call up holes. If there are members on the next tee in front of you, you can call up the waiting group on the tee. I urge members to utilise methods put in place to assist with the flow of play around the course.
