Surviving Cygnet Saved by Twinnies

Surviving Cygnet Saved by Twinnies

It was with great concern we called and a wildlife volunteer came to attend to our one surviving cygnet when it was obvious he was really struggling. They came and took him to the TWINNIES Pelican and Seabird Rescue as he had a broken leg/foot. There he was seen by a vet and will be rehabilitated, and returned “home” to us when he is well enough. The latest communication is very positive with news he is loving his food and obviously being well looked after. He is alone at present but will be shifted to enjoy the company of the other swans when he is ready.

As a gesture of appreciation the women of the Club organized for a donation to be made to the TWINNIES who survive on public support for their venture. They rallied and raised over $800 amongst themselves, with the Board topping it up to $1000. Sincere thanks for the generous support by our women members, who were joined also by a few of our concerned men, to reach this outstanding result. Thanks to the Board for recognising the passion for our swans and their saviours in this way. It’s amazing how much those wee birds tug at our heart strings and we really do appreciate the efforts made to save this one.
