AGFR 43rd Annual Golf Tournament

AGFR 43rd Annual Golf Tournament

The Australian Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians (AGFR) is over 40 years old and in 2021 it held its 43rd Annual Golf Tournament at the Maroochy River Golf Club between 16 – 21 May 2021.

The Rotary Club of Maroochydore were the hosts for the 2021 Australian Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians Tournament and they provided a wonderful week of golf and fellowship for Rotarians and their partners.

The Australian Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians is a fellowship within the Rotary organisation and is a part of what Rotary is all about, that is “fellowship within its members”.

Rotarians worldwide have developed fellowships based on interests and vocations including: fishing, caravanning, motor sport, and bridge. One of the most active fellowships is the Australian Golfing Fellowship which organises an annual golf tournament held over a week and rotated state by state. Rotarians travel from all parts of Australia for a great week of golf and fellowship. Generally, there are around 100 Rotarian golfers with 30-40 playing partners and 20-30 non playing partners.

In addition to the annual Australian Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians Tournament there is also an International Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians tournament, held annually in various countries around the world. International tournaments have been held in Europe, America, Asia and Australia and a wonderful week of golf and fellowship has been enjoyed by all who attended.

“On behalf of the members and guests, sponsors and volunteers of the 43rd AGFR, we would all like to thank the Maroochy River Golf Club, pro shop and staff for a great golf course to play on, food and hospitality. Everyone had a fantastic week with some great, good, not so great and pretty terrible golf.

You made the Rotary Club’s of Maroochydore and Alexandra Headlands’ job of hosting the event a whole lot easier and I hope the golf club got something out of it. We received many comments about how good the course and food were. The volunteers were more than happy getting up early as they loved driving the golf carts in the mornings, getting them ready for the golfers. Please pass on a thank you to the members for giving up a few games of golf for us” said Jeanne Motteram, AGFR Tournament Director.
