Maroochy River GC Juniors Shine
2024 has kicked off with a bang for the Maroochy River Juniors, with several of our young Juniors having secured their spots in prestigious golf tournaments! The State School Championships, the Greg Norman Junior Masters, and the Sunshine Coast Junior Masters are just a few of the arenas where our budding golfers will be showcasing their skills.
New Monthly Medal Award
The new Monthly Medal Award is a large medal in Club Colours and finished in gold. The medal itself can be used as a large ball marker, however it also contains a smaller removeable ball marker in its centre. The smaller ball marker is double-sided. On one side it features the ‘Maroochy River Golf Club est. 2015’ logo finished in gold; and on the reverse side it features the heritage ‘Horton Park Golf Club 1950-2015’ logo also finished in gold.
Senior Teams Challenge Series
After the slight stumble during June, a win at home against Indooroopilly at the end of June set the Maroochy River team up for a major swing in fortunes during July. The Maroochy River team finished 3rd out of the seven (7) teams in Group One; the club’s best result to date in what is proving to be a very competitive series.
The Lady Gardening Volunteers
We have a group of ten lady members who volunteer their time every Friday morning, they have over the last six years raised hundreds of trees, flowers, ground covers. Many of these plants were germinated from seed, potted and then planted throughout the course, all of the vegetation we have in the mini golf area are a result of their endeavours.
Paul Malcolm Hole in One
Huge congratulations to member Paul Malcolm who shot his first ace on HOLE 8 during competition on Sunday 2nd April 2023. Playing from the Blue tee reading 186m on the range finder with a half club tail wind, Paul struck a solid 6 Iron straight in line with the pin which looked the goods and landed on the front edge of the green and after a couple if bounces it disappeared out of vision.
Rose Bowl Day
Our Rose Bowl Day was well supported with 144 players participating, including 7 Brisbane & District clubs represented. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Debbie Constable, Sales Manager of Nutrimetics, plus a very successful raffle, the end result was a profit of over $2,000 to the Club.

A total of 15 members have been selected to provide coverage across the three (3) month home and away series.
Garden Volunteers Needed
The mini golf is continuing to be a great success for the club. The lady garden volunteers (we would welcome any males who are green thumbs too) are very pleased to contribute to this success with the work and time given each Friday.
